Sm_Art House

Kat and Matt approached us with a much-loved but neglected Queenslander—once a relocated school building—that needed a complete rethink. They wanted a home that felt solid and sophisticated while supporting everyday family life. Completed in late 2025, the project will be photographed in 2026 once the landscape matures; for now, this is a sneak peek.

The traditional cladding was retained and the roof restored in zincalume, while new additions are crisp and modern in fibre cement with fine battens. Bold finishes add depth and texture while a dramatic central void brings light and air through the home, connecting bedrooms above with living spaces below, anchored by a sculptural concrete stair. The result is a generous yet intimate home designed for longevity and family life.
